Nautical Themed Party (Anchors)

I love the challenge of decorating for our church .   Decorating this large of a facility can very expensive, but you can keep the costs down by making things yourself.  So I went in search of items for my theme.

When I saw this mood board I thought it would be perfect for the Nautical theme I had in my mind. Gold and ivory is so classy and royal blue always reminds me of nautical.

I knew I wanted to do large anchors for the table centerpieces.  The only ones I could find were very expensive.  I decided to make my own.  I found these on the Oriental Trading Company website.  They are plastic and I didn't like the color.  I went to work modifying them.

I made the base using foam squares from Dollar Tree and wood grained scrapbook paper.

Then I spray painted the plastic anchor with the "metal look" and glued two together to make them 3 dimensional.  With the added rope and shells, I was very happy with how they turned out.

This is how the family center looked....

And it wouldn't be complete without  live fish!

I was very happy with how it turned out.  You don't have to spend a lot to have a classy party!

Thank you for stopping by!
