DIY Laundry Detergent Gift

As I mentioned before, I am on a DIY detergent hunt.  Last week I made DIY Cleaning Products here.  And next I have made my own laudry soap.  In a right container, this would be another perfect hostess gift!

I have spent weeks looking for the right detergent.  It was very important for the detergent to clean well, smell really good, and be compatible with my HE washer.  I have taken a few recipes and combined them to make the best one for me.

This is the ingredients you will need:

  • Borax - 1
  • Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soap-1
  • Zote Bar-1
  • Oxi Clean Powder-2
  • Purex Crystals-2  ( I wanted to it to smell really fresh)

Mixing the detergent is so easy!  The hardest part is grating the Zote bar.  I cheated and used one my processors.

Once the bar is grated, get a large container and mix everything all together.  I used one of my large commercial mixing bowls.

This recipe is cheaper and better than normal detergent!  Everything cost me $20 and I will last me months!

I was able to fill up two containers.  The larger container is an old Kirkland's Laundry Pods, and the other bottle is the Purex Crystals container.  The smaller bottle will easily do 80 loads at 2 tbsp. per load.  For larger loads you would use 2-4 tbsp.  The container top is perfect to measure the detergent.  The second line is about 2 tbsp.

For my large container I saved the Oxy Clean scoop.  It is a perfect 2 Tbsp.

Another project marked off my list!   Have a great day!
