DIY Cleaning Products Gift

I have been wanting to try to make my own cleaning supplies and detergents for a long time.  I have spent weeks looking for the right solutions that work and also economical storage and labels.

While getting this project together, I was excited how far the products go.  I had plenty left over to share.  This would be a perfect hostess, house warming, or a just because gift and very budget friendly.

Malia at Yesterday Tuesday had great recipes and FREE labels.  I was really happy how well the solutions cleaned and her labels saved me a lot of time of having to create my own.

I made three cleaning solutions: Window Cleaner, Mult-Surface Cleaner, & Tub & Shower Cleaners.

Window Cleaner:
white vinegar, blue generic brand dish soap and water.
Directions: Using a funnel, mix 1/3 cup of vinegar, 6 drops of blue dish soap and 3 ½ cups of water into a spray bottle.
Mult Surface Cleaner:
Borax, white vinegar, blue generic brand dish soap, orange essential oil, water.
Directions: Using a funnel, add 4 T of vinegar, 2 t of Borax, ¼ cup of dish soap, 2 cups of water and 8 drops of orange essential oil inside a spray bottle. Shake gently.
(I did not have essential oils, so I made it without it.  It smelled very clean.)
Tub & Shower Cleaner:
white vinegar, blue generic brand dish soap, and lemon-
eucalyptus essential oil.
Directions: 1. Warm 2 cups of vinegar in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl. Using a funnel, pout into spray bottle.
2. Add 2 ½ cups of blue generic brand dish soap. ( I used less because it wouldn't fit in bottle)
3. Add 12 drops (optional) of lemon-eucalyptus essential oil.
(Once again I didn't have oils, I used recipe without it)

Here is what you need to complete this gift basket:
  • Spray Bottles from Dollar Tree
  • Basket from Dollar Store
  • Ribbon from Michaels (I used 40 % off coupon from my Iphone app)
  • Labels were printed from my computer on regular paper
  • Mod Podge & Foam Brush

Yesterday Tuesday has several different labels to choose from.  I decided to go with the color ones.  To make the labels somewhat liquid proof, I put them on with Mod Podge.  Let the bottles dry overnight.

I was really pleased how the the bottles turned out.  I love the bright colors!

I didn't have it on hand, but when I give the gift to someone, I will wrap it with clear basket wrap.

Now I have a fast and easy gift!
