Red Velvet Dream

Last month I posted a Valentine's Day Red Velvet Cake.  It just wasn't the flavor I was hoping for.  With Red Velvet Cake I want cream cheese, so off to the kitchen I went to experiment.

First, I made a Red Velvet Cake.  Before it cools you need to poke holes through out the cake.

To get my cream cheese taste, I blended one can of sweeten condensed milk and one package of cream cheese.    Pour over the still warm cake and spread into the holes.  Then put cake in the refrigerator to cool.

Typically I would spread cool whip over the cake, but I wanted a more sweeter topping.  I made my own whip cream ( 1 pint)  and added a 3/4 cup of sugar.  Spread the whipping cream over the top of your chilled cake.

For the topping, I shaved milk chocolate candy bar to sprinkle over the top.

I was very happy how this caked turned out! It was much better tasting with the cream cheese and homemade whip topping.

  2. Well, who knew to poke the holes?? Probably a lot of people, but I didn't, and I bet that's great for getting the flavor right down into the cake. This looks delicious!
